What was Trade Unlocked 2023?

Trade Unlocked 2023 was a brand new national conference that took place on 20th June 2023 that brought together hundreds of businesses of all sizes to discuss and address the challenges of the current trading environment.

Bridging the gap between the worlds of business and politics, Trade Unlocked created a high profile platform for businesses of all sizes and from all sectors to give views on what they need from the UK government to get their business and the economy growing.

Trade Unlocked gave delegates a say through interactive forums on proposed recommendations for changes the UK government could make in vital areas to help businesses grow.

We will collect the insight, experience and policy recommendations from all attendees - whether on-stage or off - to create a post-event record. The Trade Unlocked record will be presented to the UK Government and the UK’s political parties and the Trade Unlocked team will use it as a basis for lobbying for change.

Why should you engage with Trade Unlocked?

If you trade goods internationally, your business’ growth potential relies on the UK fixing its relationship with our closest trading partners and biggest market for UK goods. The trade off in divergence vs alignment with EU regulations needs business voices to be heard loudly.

If your business relies on a supply chain that includes cross-border logistics, the government needs to hear your voice on cross-border trade, customs processes and red tape.

If your business has struggled to recruit or access labour or the skills you need, this is your chance to make sure the government understands what you need to be able to grow.

Unlock the potential of your business. Your business’ growth depends on the UK government pursuing the right policies, and as the political parties are vying to be seen as the party of business ahead of next year’s general election, it is the time for UK businesses to seize this moment and make the case for policies that will help businesses grow.

By contributing to the exchange of ideas, you will play an instrumental role in shaping the future of UK trade policy and unlock the potential of your business.
